Static IP requests
What is Static IP
A static IP address is an IP Address associated with your account that never changes and can be assigned to a specific device. Static IP addresses matter more when external devices or websites need to remember your IP address.
Your business may need a static IP address – a unique IP address that always remains the same, if you will be performing certain activities, such as supporting remote users, hosting a website or email server, or running a firewall.
A static IP address ensures that your business can always be located on the web and your remote employees or business partners are able to access your company’s network.
When do you need Static IP
- When hosting a web, mail or FTP server
- Hosting a webcam for video streaming
- Using video conference applications
- When you want to access a corporate network remotely
Texas Broadband does not open or close ports. Any port forwarding will need to be done on customer’s end. They will need to set their routers to “obtain”. The router will automatically obtain the static IP assigned to them, along with the
subnet mask and gateway.
